The Supreme Court of India rejected a plea to initiate a door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination, saying that such pleas were a consequence of ignorance about the complexity of governance and diversity of the country.
In the current vaccination drive, over 60% of the population had already received at least one dose of vaccination. A Bench led by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud asked the petitioner, Youth Bar Association of India, whether it wanted the court to direct the government to scrap its current vaccination drive and initiate the process of door-to-door vaccination.
“Do the same conditions prevail in Ladakh and Kerala, or Uttar Pradesh? Are the challenges same in urban parts of India and the rural areas? There is a lack of understanding about the diversity of the country, about the complexity of governance. You cannot ask the same thing, in one stroke of the brush, for the entire country…
Over 60% of the population has taken one dose of the vaccine, it is not for us now to turn around and say scrap that and go for door-to-door vaccination,” Justice Chandrachud addressed the counsel on the petitioner’s side.
The petition aimed to initiate a door-to-door vaccination for the aged, the disabled and those unable to approach vaccination centres, among others.

It asked the court to direct the government to design and develop a Standard Operating Procedure for administration of door-to-door vaccines. The petition had also asked for a 24X7 portal to monitor and facilitate this type of vaccination.
“Vaccination is already under way. The court is monitoring it in a suo motu petition… The Supreme Court has constituted a National Task Force.
At this stage it is difficult to give a general direction considering the diversity of this country… We should not impinge upon the administrative power of the State to give vaccine, including door-to-door,” the court said.
It, however, gave the petitioner liberty to approach the Ministry of Health with the suggestions.
Meanwhile, the US Army has threatened repercussions for soldiers who decline to receive Covid-19 vaccinations, saying that insubordinate troops will be barred from promotions, reenlistment, and a number of special military services.
More than one-third of physicians and clinicians disagree with Covid vaccine mandates, including the Federal government’s Covid vaccine policy for employers, according to a recent survey conducted by Adaptive Medical Partners (AMP), a national healthcare recruiting firm based in Irving, Texas.
Recently, in a powerful speech against vaccine mandates European Union parliament member Christine Anderson said, “I will not be reduced to a mere guinea pig vaccinated with an experimental drug.”
Although, a small but significant victory was achieved when the French Senate rejacted a socialist senator’s proposal to make the COVID experimental vaccine mandatory for all citizens living in France.
Public health officials are grappling with the reality of an increasing number of fully-vaccinated coming down with Covid-19 infections, getting hospitalized, and even dying of Covid.
Recently, a fully vaccinated mom of 3 died after suffering 11 days in a coma. Doctors are calling it the worst case of coronavirus they have ever seen. The entire family were left ‘heartbroken’ but they wanted to share her story so they could warn others of the devastating effects of covid, despite having been fully vaccinated.
While the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) insists vaccination is still the best course many are asking if they have better immunity after they’re infected with the virus and recover, than if they’re vaccinated.
