Three European nations of Finland, Sweden and Denmark has banned the Moderna COVID vaccine for young men due to its dangerous side-effects.
Earlier, Sweden and Denmark paused the use of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for younger age groups after reports of possible rare side effects, such as myocarditis.
The Swedish health agency said on Wednesday it would pause using the shot for people born in 1991 and after as data pointed to an increase of myocarditis and pericarditis among youths and young adults that had been vaccinated. Those conditions involve an inflammation of the heart or its lining.
“The connection is especially clear when it comes to Moderna’s vaccine Spikevax, especially after the second dose,” the health agency said in a statement, adding the risk of being affected was very small.
Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist, said the health agency would continue to “follow the situation closely and act quickly to ensure that vaccinations against COVID-19 are always as safe as possible and at the same time provide effective protection” against the disease.
Data collected from four Nordic countries, shows there is a suspicion of an increased risk of heart inflammation when vaccinated with Moderna shots.
The preliminary data from the Nordic study have been sent to the European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) adverse reaction committee and will now be assessed.
Now, Finland has become the latest Scandinavian country to impose new restrictions on the use of Moderna’s COVID jab, announcing Thursday that it would halt use of the jab for younger males due to the risk of rare but harmful side effects, including heart inflammation.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has added a warning to patient and provider fact sheets for the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines to indicate risk of heart inflammation.
As reported by GreatGameIndia earlier, the US CDC and FDA had lifted their recommended pause on use of Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine with a condition that it should include a safety label warning that its vaccine comes with blood clot risks. Now, Moderna has also been included.
Inflammation and swelling of the heart, a condition known as Myocarditis, has been identified in many youngsters who have received their dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
Myocarditis is a heart condition that leads to the inflammation of the heart muscles. The inflammation is a result of the body’s immune response to a certain infection, which leads to weakening and swelling of the heart.
There have been more than 1,200 cases of a myocarditis or pericarditis mostly in people 30 and under who received the shots, according to presentation slides from the CDC meeting.

Vaccine doesn’t make sense for people under 30 yrs old. Virus isn’t harmful enough for that age group. The vaccine is potentially more harmful. But vaccine is still a good idea for people over 60. People think unvaccinated are preventing things from going back to normal. Not true. Things will go back to normal when mainstream media can’t generate ratings from fear anymore. They could have stopped fear mongering covid a long time ago. Just like other coronavirus’ each year new variants appear, vaccine works for about a year. Just like the flu. If the flu is “herd immunity” then that’s what “herd immunity” will look like with covid. Covid will be the 5th addition to the flu shot and nobody will talk about it anymore.
