Crimea Bridge Destroyed In Explosion

An important adviser to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has cautioned that the explosion that shook the Crimean Bridge early on Saturday is only “the beginning.”

“Crimea, the bridge, the beginning,” tweeted Mikhail Podolia, reported the NY Times. “Everything illegal must be destroyed, everything stolen must be returned to Ukraine, everything occupied by Russia must be expelled.” The president’s “information policy.” is controlled by the former journalist, who is essentially the Kiev regime’s principal propagandist.

In August, he cautioned that Europe’s largest bridge “should be destroyed” because it is “an illegal construction and the main gateway to supply the Russian army in Crimea.”

The crossing was shut down early on Saturday morning after a truck explosion damaged the road and started a massive fire.

Throughout the crisis between Moscow and Kiev, Ukrainian officials have repeatedly threatened to assault the Crimean Bridge, which links the country’s Krasnodar Region to the Russian peninsula of Crimea.

Zelensky as well as other members of his group have additionally vowed to use force to reclaim Crimea, which resoundingly decided to join Russia in a referendum in 2014.

The explosion, which happened at around six in the morning local time, led to a portion of the road’s vehicular segment collapsing. Seven fuel tanks caught fire on the adjacent rail segment, where a fire also started. According to Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee, a truck explosion occurred while it was moving along the 19-km-long construction.

The fire has been put out, and an evaluation of the blast’s effects is ongoing. While the bridge is being restored, a ferry service will be offered, according to the Crimean authorities.

Prior to the Crimean bridge, the Nord Stream pipeline blast made global news, the perpetrator of which is yet to be identified.

  1. Unlikely it was a truck explosion. The explosion and smoke fronts are more consistent with the center being next to the bridge. The video from behind the truck shows a blast/flame/smoke front crossing the road, NOT coming toward the camera.
