According to the World Happiness Report, Ukraine is happier than India, even during war.
How satisfied or happy are you today with your life? The World Happiness Report 2023 revealed Indians are unhappier than people in countries facing war or crisis like Ukraine, Russia, Pakistan, Iraq and Srilanka. India is ranked 126 out of 137 countries.
2022 has been a year of crises for the world, starting with the Covid-19 pandemic to war in Ukraine, inflation, earthquakes, and several other climatic disasters. But an analysis of how satisfied people are with their lives these days showed Finland is the happiest country in the world for the sixth year in a row, followed by Denmark and Iceland, respectively.
War-torn Afghanistan and Lebanon remain the two unhappiest countries in the survey, while Sri Lanka stands at 112, Pakistan 108, Iraq 98, and Ukraine 92.
The World Happiness Report is based on five questions which revolve around national happiness, trust and benevolence, state effectiveness, altruistic behaviour affecting their own happiness and the overall happiness of society, and how social media enables us to measure happiness and distress?

According to the report, Ukraine and Russia shared the global increases in benevolence during 2020 and 2021. During 2022, benevolence grew sharply in Ukraine but fell in Russia. Despite the magnitude of suffering and damage in Ukraine, life evaluations in September 2022 remained higher than in the aftermath of the 2014 annexation, supported now by a stronger sense of common purpose, benevolence, and trust in Ukrainian leadership.
