A study published by the UK government’s Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency tells pregnant women not to take the vaccine because sufficient reassurance of safe use of the vaccine in pregnant women cannot be provided at the present time.
The British government has advised against the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant or breastfeeding women, conceding that “sufficient reassurance of safe use of the vaccine” “cannot be provided at the present time” for the public.
The results were made public in a thorough report (pdf below) from the nation’s Department of Health and Social Care titled “Summary of the Public Assessment Report for COVID-19 Vaccine Pfizer/BioNTech,” which was most recently updated on August 16th. The government’s Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency published the study.
The department advises against vaccination of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, as stated in the report’s “Toxicity Conclusions” section, which includes the following information:
“In the context of supply under Regulation 174, it is considered that sufficient reassurance of safe use of the vaccine in pregnant women cannot be provided at the present time: however, use in women of childbearing potential could be supported provided healthcare professionals are advised to rule out known or suspected pregnancy prior to vaccination. Women who are breastfeeding should also not be vaccinated.“
“The absence of reproductive toxicity data is a reflection of the speed of development to first identify and select COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 for clinical testing and its rapid development to meet the ongoing urgent health need. In principle, a decision on Licensing a vaccine could be taken in these circumstances without data from reproductive toxicity studies animals, but there are studies ongoing and these will be provided when available,” continued the report.
The admission comes in the wake of controversies surrounding the hasty mandates and licencing of COVID-19 vaccines by a number of Western governments.

The British government’s study comes after indications that U.S. health organisations including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are delaying the publication of information about the effectiveness and long-term health effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.
