Mapping Illegal Immigrants By State

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, illegal immigrants by state have been mapped below, with Illinois, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, and California having the highest numbers of undocumented immigrants in 2021.

Recently, US President Joe Biden announced steps to prevent illegal immigration across the US-Mexico border.

Bruno Venditti of Visual Capitalist created this map depicting the number of undocumented immigrants per state based on estimates from the Pew Research Center for 2021 that were computed using data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Undocumented Immigrants Concentrated in Certain States

After reaching a peak of 12.2 million in 2007, the number of undocumented immigrants in the US was projected to be approximately 10 million in 2021.
