According to the findings of an Ipsos poll done in 36 nations in late 2022, 43% of Indians believe aliens will visit Earth in 2023.
The internet was obviously having a field day when news of the U.S. military shooting down three unidentified flying objects in as many days leaked over the weekend. Social media, which on the best of days is filled with conspiracy theories, was awash with rumors about what was actually happening in the United States.
General Glen VanHerck, commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the U.S. Northern Command, refused to “rule out anything” when asked if extraterrestrials may have been involved in the most recent occurrences, which did little to quell the burgeoning alien frenzy. During a Monday White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tried her best to soothe everyone by saying “there is no — again, no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns. And it was important for us to say that from here because we’ve been hearing a lot about it.”
Last month according to a report made by Vasily Golubev, the governor of Rostov Oblast, a suspected UFO was shot down over Russia’s Rostov Oblast by Russian air defense systems.
It’s not surprising that the most recent UFO occurrences aroused some lively online conjecture when one considers the findings of an Ipsos poll done in 36 nations in late 2022.
In response to the question of whether they thought it likely or unlikely that aliens would visit Earth in 2023, an average of 18% of respondents stated they thought extraterrestrial visitation was a likely possibility for that year.
However, as the graph above demonstrates, respondents from India and China were very receptive to the idea of extraterrestrial visitors, while those from Great Britain and Japan were among the most skeptical.
