The CB Insights unicorn list, which documents the highest-valued startups in the world, has ByteDance topping the list.
Which startup has the greatest valuation globally? Why? Because ByteDance, the creators of the Chinese social media app TikTok, are listed on the CB Insights unicorn list (the valuation, not the comments), which one could assume aims to raise everyone’s IQ to double digits one ADHD-relevant clip at a time.
As Katharina Buchholz of Statista further points out, there is just one non-Chinese and non-US startup among the top 8 most valuable startups in the world. This is the Fintech app and neobank Revolut from the United Kingdom. Other highly ranked foreign additions as of November 2023 are the Indonesian shipping company J&T Express (rank 13) and the Australian software company Canva (rank 10). Shein, a $66 billion-valued Chinese clothing company, has risen quickly up the list.

As of October 2023, there were over 1,200 unicorn startups (businesses valued at $1 billion or more) worldwide, according to CB Insights. About 40 companies, including OpenAI, Discord, Grammarly, JUUL, BYJU’s, and Reddit, are decacorns, with a valuation of at least $10 billion. The two most valuable hectocorns in the world, Bytedance and Space X, are each worth over $100 billion.
