According to Agence France-Presse’s story from last week, Golden Dragon was held in central Kampong Chhnang Province and at sea off Preah Sihanouk Province.

Almost two thousand soldiers, fourteen warships, two helicopters, sixty-nine armored vehicles and tanks, and four-legged robot dogs equipped with automatic guns are all part of the training operation.

In addition, the soldiers are practicing live-fire, counterterrorism, and humanitarian rescue exercises.

There were no reported fires from the machine gun robodogs.

They were only shown to journalists and military officials by strolling, not by shooting.

The leader of the Cambodian armed forces, Vong Pisen, said the exercises are intended to improve the country’s ability to combat terrorism.

As other national leaders have indicated, Cambodia is adamant that it will never permit a foreign military installation on its soil.

China started paying for the refurbishment of the Ream naval facility after demolishing US-funded infrastructure there.

In December, two Chinese warships made their first post-renovation docking in Ream.

China might gain a key location close to the South China Sea with the Ream facility, according to US reports.

Thong Solimo, a spokesman for the Cambodian army, stated that China is footing the bill for the drills.

According to Solimo, this exercise is the largest one they have ever done.

ROBOT DOGS WORRYS

According to The Byte, some people believe that the employment of robot dogs in the military creates a dystopian image because they believe that killer robots or armed drones will be utilized in battle in the future.

Experts caution that there are serious ethical concerns with robot dogs and autonomously armed drones.

International legislation banning the deployment of autonomous killer robots in combat has been prompted by this.

However, US military forces and local law enforcement are investing in this technology despite ethical concerns.

They contend that the use of armed drones could prevent fatalities.
