Employees at Boston, Massachusetts-based consulting firm Bain & Company have rated their workplace on Glassdoor as the greatest place to work in 2024. Listed second is chipmaker Nvidia, whose stock has surged dramatically over the past year. Reviews include focused leadership, company culture, and job flexibility. The top five best workplaces in America are rounded out by three mid-sized tech companies: Procore Technologies (construction management software), MathWorks (software for mathematical computation), and ServiceNow (cloud computing).
One exception to the trend so far is the well-liked fast-food chain In-N-Out Burger, which comes in sixth position.
Google is not included in the 2024 ranking, having fallen from ninth to 26th in 2023. In doing so, no large technology company appears in the top 15 best workplaces for the first time in the previous five years.

Big Tech performs fairly low on these rankings, even though its annual sales and profit margins are record-breaking.
Tech & Consulting Losing Sheen
Apple, for instance, last achieved a ranking of 31 in 2021 and has never been higher.
Although Google, Microsoft, and Meta have performed better in the past, they have fallen quickly in Glassdoor’s rankings due to their repeated major layoffs over the past two years.
Although Bain & Co. tops the list this year, McKinsey & Company and Boston Consulting Group, two significant participants in the same industry, are currently ranked lowest since 2019.
The past year or two has seen a decline in smaller consulting firms as increased interest rates have affected banks, real estate conglomerates, technology corporations, and other typical advisory clients.
