Dramatic footage of the moment a group of hostages was located and brought to safety during the risky raid on a Hamas stronghold in central Gaza on Saturday was made public by Israeli troops on Monday. This particular clip documents the moment when special counter-terror commandos found the first three hostages and achieved identification.

The bodycam clip, which shows a soldier moving quickly through an urban area and breaking through what appears to be an apartment building while laying down heavy machine gun fire, was released by the Israeli Police and Israeli Security Agency. Before it was made public, the video was heavily altered, and some of the faces were blurred out when it was featured in mainstream media. Look below:

The specific video depicts the dramatic release of hostages Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv by Shin Bet operatives and members of the special Yamam squad. During the intense gunfight, which happened in broad daylight as well, a Yamam cop who was later identified as Arnon Zmora was slain.

The hostages are questioned and asked to identify themselves by name as soon as the attackers break into the building. They are all seen curled up on beds in a little room. The hostages are then informed by a soldier, “We’ve come to save you.”

The video’s last minutes, in which the elite troops set up cover fire while the prisoners made their escape on foot, highlight how dangerous the situation was even before they left the facility. They can be seen running across a courtyard in a garden.

After the footage was made public, Israeli officials released the following statement: “Yamam and Shin Bet operatives worked simultaneously at two locations to rescue the four hostages, engaging in fierce combat with the terrorists.”

“Attached is footage from helmet cameras capturing the moments of the rescue, where Yamam officers and Shin Bet (Israel Security Service) operatives storm the locations holding the hostages,” the statement continued. “The dramatic rescue amidst fighting and neutralization of the terrorists in the area is clearly visible.”

The team’s maneuver out of the situation was probably just as perilous if not more so, considering that a large shootout would have drawn more Hamas militants and spectators.

The following individuals, who have recently been let free, were originally taken hostage by Hamas on October 7 during the Nova music festival: Noa Argamani, 25, Almong Meir Jan, 21, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 40. The largest hospital in Tel Aviv evaluated them, and the authorities have determined they are in good health. They are currently with their families.
