Marcus Lu of Visual Capitalist created a visualization of the top ten nations receiving US foreign aid in fiscal year 2022. These figures show total disbursements or the actual amounts paid in cash or currency equivalents by federal agencies.
All data were obtained from https://www.foreignassistance.gov as of May 2024. At the time of writing, full reporting for FY2023 was not yet available.

The table below lists all of the numbers needed to make this graph. The fiscal year in the United States begins on October 1 of the previous calendar year and concludes on September 30.
Ukraine was the highest receiver of foreign aid, with $11.2 billion disbursed in FY2022. This was a significant increase over the $419 million provided in FY2021, owing to the Russian invasion that began in February 2022.
So far in FY2023 (incomplete reporting), foreign aid to Ukraine has totaled $16.7 billion.
Israel is the second largest receiver, however, unlike Ukraine, the $3.3 billion disbursed in FY2022 is consistent with previous years (approximately $3.3 billion annually since FY2019).
The vast bulk (over 99%) of foreign aid to Israel is directed toward “Conflict, Peace, and Security,” with disbursements managed by the United States Department of Defense.
Recently, GreatGameIndia reported that Martyna Bohuslavets, Director of the Mezha Anti-Corruption Center, stated that aid meant for Ukraine is being diverted to fake companies.
