Discover the shocking truth behind some of Italy’s luxury handbags: Italian prosecutors have uncovered that major fashion houses like Dior and Armani are using exploited foreign labor to assemble their high-priced products. Court documents reveal that bags sold for thousands of dollars are manufactured for a fraction of the cost by underpaid workers in sweatshops across Italy, often violating labor laws. This scandal raises serious questions about the ethical practices of renowned fashion brands and challenges the perception of “Made in Italy” quality.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Italian prosecutors looked into the local supplier lines of two big Italian fashion businesses. Their inquiry revealed that certain designer handbags are created using exploited foreign labor. This discovery, while alarming to some, is not surprising to readers who are already aware of the Western elites’ agenda: flood Europe and the United States with illegal aliens to capitalize on cheap labor (and votes).
According to court documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal, LVMH subsidiary Dior paid a supplier approximately $57 to build luxury handbags that retail for $2,780 in brick-and-mortar stores. Meanwhile, Giorgio Armani bags were sold to local vendors for approximately $100, then resold to Armani for $270, and finally placed on retail shop shelves for $1945 or more.
The WSJ stated, “The cost rates do not include leather or other basic materials. Design, distribution, and marketing expenditures are all covered individually by the companies.
“Why does it cost so little to manufacture the product?” asked Fabio Roia, president of Milan’s judicial system. “The brands need to ask themselves this question.”
Prosecutors claim that some of the expensive handbags labeled “Made in Italy” by fashion house suppliers are manufactured in sweatshops in the European country, using low-cost Chinese labor. They claim that many sweatshops do not adhere to legal workshop codes.
As a result of the Italian investigation, judges in June placed Manufactures Dior SRL—a unit of Dior—under so-called court administration after ruling that its supply chain included Chinese-owned firms in Italy that mistreated migrant workers. The same measure was taken against Armani in April and Alviero Martini, known for its map-print bags and other items, in January.

In a 34-page court judgment, the court stated that in March and April, Italian police discovered migrant workers in “hygiene and health conditions that are below the minimum required by an ethical approach” at Milan-area Dior supply chain enterprises.
Investigators interrogated employees from one of Armani’s companies, GA Operations, which employed several Chinese-owned subcontractors throughout Italy. These subcontractors offered migrant workers a few euros per hour.

“The main problem is obviously people being mistreated: applying labor laws, so health and safety, hours, pay,” Roia told Reuters earlier this year.

Customers who demand the best quality from the “Made in Italy” logo are only now realizing that some of these luxury items are made with exploited migrant labor. The harsh reality of open borders is revealed: it dilutes domestic workers in favor of low-wage migrants. For this, we may thank Western elites.
