A former Russian politician who criticized the conflict with Ukraine has passed away. According to reports, Pavel Antov died after falling while on vacation in India. This is 2nd Russian lawmaker that has been assassinated in India in a week.

A unexplained fall from a hotel in India led to the death of Russia’s “highest-earning elected politician,” who had criticized Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, reports Mail Online.
Pavel Antov, a multimillionaire from the major pro-Putin party United Russia, was traveling to commemorate his 66th birthday.
The affluent politician passed just two days after a male acquaintance who belonged to his party had died “from a heart attack” on Thursday of last week.
The married businessman, who serves as an MP in the Vladimir region’s legislative body, was recognized as Russia’s highest-paid elected politician in 2019.

Alexei Idamkin, the Russian consul general in Kolkata, claimed to TASS that he “fell” from a hotel window in Rayagada, in the state of Odisha.
‘We are closely following the investigation and receiving all the information from the Odisha police,’ the diplomat said.
Antov criticized the battle and airstrikes on Kyiv in June, calling them acts of Russian “terror” that injured Ukrainian citizens.
He emphasized a missile strike by Russia and said: ‘A girl has been pulled out from under the rubble, the girl’s father appears to have died.
‘The mother is trying to be pulled out with a crane – she is trapped under a slab. To tell the truth, it is extremely difficult to call this anything other than terror.’
He obviously came under immediate, tremendous criticism after which he quickly removed his comment and apologized profusely.
He then reversed course and said his social media post was the result of “an unfortunate misunderstanding” and a “technical error.”
He said he “always supported the president” and “sincerely” endorsed Putin’s military operation’s objectives, although local journalists vehemently questioned this.
According to Indian media accounts, the Russian meat tycoon allegedly “jumped” from the hotel’s roof before being discovered in a pool of blood.
His Indian tour guide hurried him to the hospital, but the doctor pronounced him dead.
There were three individuals in the group: two unnamed men, Vladimir Budanov, 61, a friend of the MP.
Diplomat Mr Idamkin said: ‘There was a tour group of four staying at a hotel in Rayagada.
‘Last Thursday, a Russian man called Vladimir B. died. According to the police, the cause of this was a heart attack.
‘On Saturday, a second Russian, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region, Pavel Antov, fell out of the window.’
Russian media outlet SHOT said Indian police ‘do not rule out the possibility that Pavel Antov may have become depressed over his friend’s death and committed suicide’.
Vladislav Kartukhin, the vice-speaker of the Vladimir legislative assembly, verified that Antov passed away in the three-star Sai International Hotel.
Antov leaves behind his wife and child.
In an analysis done by Forbes Russia for the year 2019, his reported annual earnings were listed as £130 million.
As a result, he was recognized as the highest-paid lawmaker in the nation.
