On Wednesday, Russia declared that its soldiers were driving back Ukrainian forces and that, by the end of the year, Moscow would strengthen its armed forces with the addition of two new armies and thirty additional divisions.

According to Schuyler Moore, Chief Technology Officer of US Central Command, the US deploys “Project Maven” in the Middle East as AI warfare unfolds.

After overextending its forces and invading Ukraine in 2022, Russia quickly withdrew some of its forces in the east and south. However, after a counteroffensive by the Ukrainians last year failed to make major progress, Russia has been gaining slowly.

Less than five percent of Ukraine is under Russian control, and President Vladimir Putin gave the order for soldiers to advance after Moscow captured the little eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka last month.

“Groups of Russian troops continue to squeeze the enemy out of their positions,” Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told senior generals. “The United States and its satellites are extremely concerned about the success of the Russian Armed Forces.

“The combined grouping of troops will continue to build on the successes achieved and increase the live fire impact on enemy targets.”

According to Shoigu, Russia, which has enlisted hundreds of thousands of contract soldiers, plans to establish 30 formations, including 14 divisions and 16 brigades, and two new armies.

According to Western espionage chiefs, the war may be nearing a turning point since Kyiv needs more weapons from its partners in the West to prevent more losses on the battlefield. Ukraine’s survival is in jeopardy, according to U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s remarks on Tuesday.

According to the Russia Matters project at the Harvard Kennedy School, Russia has seized 25,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since the invasion in 2022.

Amidst political maneuvering ahead of the U.S. presidential election in November, Ukraine is grappling with a shortfall of combat-ready troops and is considering enacting a new mobilization law. Support from Washington has also been impeded.

Before Russia’s presidential election scheduled for March 15–17, Ukraine intensified its attacks, assaulting refineries, shelling Russian border areas, and attempting to breach the border through proxies.

According to Shoigu, air defenses have been reinforced and security has been tightened at the Russian government and other institutions.

According to him, Russia severely damaged the Ukrainian proxies during the election by shooting down 419 Ukrainian drones and 67 rockets. Reuters could not confirm the numbers.

Putin has threatened to retaliate against Ukraine over the assaults, threatening to carve up a buffer zone from further Ukrainian land to stave off artillery attacks from the West.

“The primary task is to guarantee security. There are different methods here, they aren’t easy but we will do this,” Putin told a Kremlin meeting on Wednesday.
