Stephen Chamberlain, who was 52 and used to work as the Vice President of Finance at Lynch’s old company, Autonomy, was hit by a car while jogging on Saturday. His lawyer, Gary Lincenberg, shared this news with CNN.

This unfortunate event occurred just two days before Lynch, who is now 59, went missing. Lynch was on a luxury yacht that sank near Sicily early Monday morning after being hit by a tornado. Along with Lynch, five other people were also on the yacht and are currently missing.

Earlier this year, both Lynch and Chamberlain were found not guilty of fraud in a San Francisco court. They had been accused of misleading Hewlett-Packard (HP) about the value of Autonomy when it was sold to HP for $11 billion in 2011.

Before his death, Chamberlain faced the same serious charges as Lynch, including conspiracy and wire fraud. However, he fought hard to prove his innocence and was cleared of all charges.

Chamberlain’s lawyer praised him, saying he was a man of great courage and integrity, and his legacy will live on through his family.

On Monday, police in Cambridgeshire asked for witnesses to come forward regarding the accident where Chamberlain was hit. Though the police did not name him, they reported that a man in his 50s from Longstaton was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The driver, a 49-year-old woman, is cooperating with the investigation.
