The use of microchip implants on the hand that record COVID certificate status is being advocated for by a Swedish biohacker who also advocates for human augmentation. The implanted chip could be accessed even from a cell phone that has the ability to display a digital COVID certificate.
“Get your COVID certificate in a chip in your hand or elsewhere under the skin. It is increasingly popular to insert a chip into the body with different types of information and now you can also insert your COVID certificate in the chip,” Aftonbladet, Sweden’s daily newspaper, reported.
Hannes Sjöblad, co-founder of BioNyfiken, a Swedish bio-hacking association and “Chief Disruption Officer” at Epicenter Stockholm, explained to Aftonbladet how he received a digital COVID certificate from the EU after placing his mobile phone on his forearm.
Sjöblad who himself is double chipped told Aftonbladet that microchips had the potential to be used in a wide variety such as, saving all kinds of “personal information” ranging from contact information to bodily identifiers such as blood type and health indicators like body temperature.
Placing his cell phone next to his upper chest area where he had one microchip set up, he demonstrated how he was able to get a body temperature reading.
Swedish media also reported that Olle Helkimo, now service manager at Epicenter Stockholm, took a chip installed in his hand at a table in a restaurant. He noted that it was like “nothing at all.”
For many years, Sjöblad has promoted chip implantation as an alternative to “identification technologies”, such as gym passes, keys and office badges, as well as a form of ID access to personal devices such as phones and computers.
In 2016, he noted that the chip could be used to sign payments, for example through Bitcoin. He also notes that this is a “easy-to-hack technology,” and admits it is a weakness of microchip implants.
Although microchip impanated population is still a minority in Sweden, implantation in Sweden is more prevalent and accepted than in any other country.
Sole Møller told the Medical Journal MedicalExpo in 2019 that “commuters on the Swedish railways, SJ, can load a ticket onto their implant, which can be scanned by a train conductor using a smartphone,” a method “some 3,000 passengers” were using at the time.
Author and investigative journalist Edwin Black told the media in an earlier comment on the popularity of microchips in Sweden that the technology could have dire consequences.
“This means that human behavior can be trackable and controllable by the injector, and if that injector is a government or a corporation under the control of government, we are turning a corner where government will be able to wipe out a whole class of people based on their origin or opposition to policy,” he said.
