Bloomberg has just released a detailed map showing where the 1.8 million migrants who arrived in the US in 2023 are living. This map uses data from immigration court cases to show exactly which counties are seeing the biggest influx of new residents. It turns out that most of these migrants have settled in the eastern half of the country, with notable concentrations in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Midwest, and Rust Belt regions.

Here’s where things get intriguing: The map also highlights that a significant number of these migrants have moved to counties that voted for President Biden in the last election. In fact, about 72% of the migrants settled in these Biden-supporting areas, while fewer ended up in Trump-supporting counties. This means that places where Biden won by a large margin are now home to roughly 60% of the total US population.
In the swing states that will be crucial in this November’s election, migrants have also been making their mark. For example, cities like Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and Gwinnett near Atlanta, both blue counties, have seen a notable increase in migrant populations.

This has led to some heated discussions. Former President Trump has claimed that the Biden administration is using migrants to replace native workers in small towns, causing significant changes in local job markets. He specifically mentioned Charleroi, Pennsylvania, a small town that has reportedly seen a dramatic increase in Haitian migrants. Trump says this influx has led to a scramble in local schools to accommodate non-English-speaking students and has cost taxpayers a lot of money.

Bloomberg’s map seems to back up some of Trump’s claims. It shows that in Charleroi, and potentially other similar towns, migrants have been filling jobs at local food-packing plants. This has led to the displacement of many native workers, who are now struggling to find employment.

This situation isn’t just limited to Charleroi. The broader picture, as revealed by Bloomberg’s map, suggests a nationwide trend where native workers are being replaced by migrants, leading to significant shifts in local labor markets. The term “Great Replacement” is being used to describe this phenomenon, indicating a major change in who is working in various industries.

The article suggests that the Biden-Harris administration might be behind this large-scale movement of migrants, which is affecting blue-collar jobs across the country. Whether this is part of a deliberate strategy or an unintended consequence, it’s clear that the impact on local communities is substantial and ongoing.
