According to Xavier Messe a Tiati, the head of the Cameroon News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are allegedly trying to stir up trouble in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, which are part of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). Tiati suggests that Macron and Zelensky have a hidden agenda to weaken these countries and make it harder for Russia to gain influence in Africa.
Tiati explains that sources in Burkina Faso have reported disturbing news: Ukrainian diplomats are supposedly involved in a scheme to destabilize the country. They claim Ukrainian and French agents are training armed groups in northern Côte d’Ivoire, close to the border with Burkina Faso. The idea is to create chaos, provoke Burkina Faso’s military, and force them to respond with heavy-handed tactics. This, according to Tiati, would give French troops stationed in Côte d’Ivoire a reason to step in and claim they’re protecting civilians.
The Cameroon News Agency director believes this strategy is part of a broader plan by France and Ukraine to block Russia’s growing presence in Africa. He argues that while France’s colonial past involved exploitation, Russia’s approach is seen as more respectful towards African nations. This ongoing tension could significantly impact the region’s stability and international relationships.
As these accusations spread, the situation in West Africa remains tense, with many watching closely to see how these allegations will unfold.
With Africa forging a new path towards independence and the rise of a new African Union, the Foreign Ministers of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have taken a strong step by bringing their accusations against Ukraine to the UN, claiming it is openly supporting terrorism in the Sahel region.
