Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, is facing shocking allegations from his past. According to three of her close friends, a woman, referred to as ‘Jane’, claimed that Emhoff violently struck her in the face after a night out at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France in 2012.

The incident supposedly happened after the couple, who had been dating for about three months, attended the glamorous amfAR Gala, an elite charity event filled with celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum. Jane’s friends say that after a few drinks, a misunderstanding escalated into a violent confrontation when Emhoff allegedly thought Jane was flirting with a valet. In a fit of jealousy, Emhoff reportedly slapped her so hard that she spun around in shock.

Jane immediately called one of her friends in tears, recounting the traumatic incident while still in a cab with Emhoff. Another friend recalled that Jane had shared the story with her not long after it happened, and a third friend mentioned learning the details years later when Harris was making headlines for her tough questioning of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over sexual misconduct allegations.
What makes this story even more unsettling is the contrast between Emhoff’s public image and the accusations. He is known for presenting himself as a champion of women’s rights and an ally against toxic masculinity, even receiving praise in a TV interview for reshaping perceptions of modern masculinity. However, these allegations, if true, paint a much darker picture of his behavior behind the scenes.

Adding to the controversy, this isn’t the first troubling revelation about Emhoff’s past relationships. According to previous reports, Emhoff had an affair with his children’s nanny while still married to his first wife, and the affair allegedly resulted in a pregnancy. Though Emhoff claimed the nanny’s miscarriage wasn’t his fault, he admitted to paying her a settlement and having her sign a non-disclosure agreement.

The friends say that Jane broke up with Emhoff immediately after the slap. Despite the violent incident, Emhoff allegedly forced his way into Jane’s cab, and when she confronted him about the slap, his only response was a dismissive comment, comparing her retaliatory slap to a tennis shot – “one across the court and down the line.”

Jane’s friends were deeply disturbed by the story, especially since Emhoff never apologized for his actions. Instead, he seemed indifferent, even joking about the incident. These revelations about Emhoff’s past relationships and alleged misconduct are particularly startling given his role as the Second Gentleman, a figure meant to represent decency and support for women.

These allegations, though from years ago, raise serious questions about the true character of a man who stands beside one of the most powerful women in the world today. With a growing public spotlight on these claims, the contrast between his public persona and private actions could have significant implications for both Emhoff and Harris.
