Is The Battle Royale Genre Dying?

Like all great multiplayer online games and genres, the Battle Royale genre also started as a mod. Among the greatest mods of all time like Counter-Strike, a mod of Half-Life, DOTA, a modded map of Warcraft 3, Battle Royale Genre started as a mod called DayZ for the game ARMA 2.

Brendan Greene, a developer who created DayZ, later worked as the creative developer for Bluehole and created one of the most popular games in the Battle Royale Genre, PUBG. As PUBG blew up the Battle Royale genre across platforms, which also included mobile, different AAA titles decided to introduce their own Battle Royale game modes, and thus one of the biggest gaming genres was born.

The Battle Royale for the past three years has grown immensely. With games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone introducing Free-to-Play and Fortnite bringing the creative side of the fight to the fore with the building option gave rise to a more competitive and grind-worthy style of Battle Royale.

Games both in the FPS and TPP perspective started seeing a rise in users. Apex Legends, a game that allowed players to not only play the Battle Royale genre the classic way but introduced specialist characters that held abilities that could change the course of the battle the way you saw fit.

Popularity Rising?

A format that Battle Royale games adopted was to introduce new content and move a storyline along with season updates. Every couple of months, the game would see a large update that introduces new content in the form of playable skins, weapons, and challenges. Most of these are indeed done for marketing purposes by other organizations, but they still make up for interesting content.

Along with content, these updates heavily work on the bugs and balancing of the game and weapons to keep it playable for everyone. With Battle royale games constantly throwing content and making sure the community is listened to, and changes are made, the genre is one of the biggest forms of entertainment in the world today.

Will it last?

There is an opinion going around these days that all Battle Royale games are similar, which is why it is easy to assume that if you get bored of one, it is possible you will get bored of the others. This is a very generalized view and not true at all. Every Battle Royale game has something very different to offer, whether in visuals, content, playstyle, or story. Despite the huge growth, the Battle Royale genre can still be considered something in its infant stages. It is easy to say that the genre will keep on inventing new ways to enhance the experience of this game mode without everything seeming redundant. This has been proven by games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

If you are loyal to the Battle Royale genre and believe that it still has decades left before things start to go southbound, you are right. For those who enjoy Battle Royale games, eldorado is the place to go for all your in-game currency, items, and account needs. Eldorado is a trusted marketplace that offers items, currency, and even high-ranking accounts for the best prices.
