Africa has become the center of attention for a controversial reason. According to the Russian military, the United States is using the continent as a massive laboratory for dangerous pathogens and experimental medical treatments. This revelation comes as the Russian Ministry of Defense continues to investigate US military-biological activities across the globe, including in Ukraine, post-Soviet states, and Southeast Asia.

Major General Aleksey Rtishchev, a senior official in Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense Troops, claims the US has built a system to manage biological risks in other countries. This system, first tested in Ukraine and Georgia, is now being heavily implemented in Africa.
In a recent briefing, Rtishchev painted a grim picture of what he alleges is happening. He stated that the US sees Africa as a “limitless reservoir” of dangerous infectious agents—essentially, a goldmine of diseases that can be studied and used. He also accused Washington of turning the continent into a testing ground for experimental medical products.
The Strategy Behind the Allegations
The US strategy, according to Russia’s report, is to gather pathogens from areas where diseases are naturally widespread. By doing this, the US can monitor, analyze, and potentially exploit these diseases for its own interests.
Major General Rtishchev also suggested that the US uses its influence to gain control over the healthcare systems of African nations. Through partnerships with local governments and private contractors, including pharmaceutical giants often referred to as “Big Pharma,” the US allegedly trains personnel to adopt American standards and collects vast amounts of information about local health conditions.
But this assistance reportedly comes with a cost. The report claims that by relying on American medical equipment, supplies, and expertise, African nations lose their independence in managing their own healthcare and biosafety.
The Bigger Picture: A Geopolitical Tug-of-War
The Russian military believes these activities are part of a larger strategy to counter rivals like Russia and China. Both countries have been actively working with African nations to expose what they call the “true nature” of US biological programs.
This isn’t the first time these issues have come to light. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, a top Russian military official focused on the dangers of weapons of mass destruction, had been investigating these claims. Last week, Kirillov was murdered in Moscow along with his assistant. Russian investigators have accused Ukrainian forces of orchestrating the attack.
Why It Matters
If the Russian military’s allegations are true, the implications are staggering. They suggest that Africa, a continent already struggling with healthcare challenges, is being exploited for experiments that could have global consequences.
The report highlights a troubling possibility: Are nations being stripped of their sovereignty and used as pawns in a larger geopolitical game? And how far will countries go to secure an edge in biological research?
As the debate continues, one thing is clear—Africa’s role in the global power struggle is far more complex and critical than it seems on the surface.
