Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance movement, has made a bold move by targeting an Israeli military headquarters with a squadron of suicide drones. Early Monday morning, these drones launched from Lebanon struck Israel’s newly established 91st Division in the Elite Barracks, located in the Upper Galilee region.
Hezbollah stated that this aerial attack resulted in several Israeli troops being killed or injured. The resistance fighters specifically targeted the positions and settlements of Israeli officers and soldiers, hitting them directly and causing significant casualties.
This daring air raid was carried out as a show of support for Gaza and as retaliation for Israel’s assassinations of Hezbollah members during attacks on several Lebanese towns. The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has been intensifying, with both sides exchanging fire along Lebanon’s southern border since the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
On Sunday, Hezbollah also fired dozens of rockets toward northern Israeli territories in response to a deadly Israeli attack on southern Lebanon. Over 50 rockets were launched at the Beit Hillel settlement in the Upper Galilee, causing a fire, according to various Israeli media reports.
Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, delivered a speech on Thursday at the funeral of top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, who was recently assassinated by Israel. Nasrallah declared that the fight against Israel had entered a “new phase” following the assassinations of Shukr and Hamas’ political leader Ismail Haniyeh. Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli attack in Tehran, where he was attending the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new president.
Nasrallah emphasized that Israel had crossed red lines with these assassinations and warned that they should expect “rage and revenge on all fronts.” Hezbollah’s recent drone attack is a clear signal that they are willing to escalate the conflict in response to Israeli actions.
