Elon Musk has publicly condemned gender-affirming care, claiming it led to his son’s distress and eventual estrangement. In a recent conversation with Jordan Peterson, Musk revealed that he was pressured into approving puberty blockers for his son, Xavier, who now goes by Vivian Jenna Wilson, after being threatened with the possibility of suicide. Musk believes he was misled about the treatment’s effects and now describes his son’s transition as a result of a “woke mind virus” that he vows to fight against. This experience has intensified Musk’s resolve to challenge what he perceives as harmful ideologies.
Elon Musk has denounced “gender-affirming care” providers for essentially “killing” his son by deceiving the billionaire into approving treatments that prevent puberty because of concern that the adolescent might kill himself otherwise. Musk said in talks on Monday that the ordeal had strengthened his resolve to “destroy the woke mind virus.”
During a live-streamed debate on Monday on X and the Daily Wire with psychologist and commentator Jordan Peterson, Musk opened out about what had occurred to his son.
“It happened to one of my older boys, where I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys, Xavier. This is before I had any understanding of what was going on. COVID was going on, so there was a lot of confusion and I was told Xavier might commit suicide if he doesn’t.”
The suicide threat is often raised by professionals who suggest gender-neutral therapy. In an attempt to get parents to comply, they frequently pose a troubling question, usually framed as “Would you rather have a dead son or a living daughter?”
But criticism of the presumed connection between gender dysphoria and suicide has surfaced, and not just from the general public. The authors of a Finnish study published in January concluded that “gender dysphoria per se does not seem to predict either all-cause nor suicide mortality in gender-referred adolescents.” “[The] main predictor of mortality in this population is psychiatric morbidity…Medical gender reassignment does not have an impact on suicide risk.”
Peterson said, “[The suicide threat] was a lie from the beginning.” Musk responded, “Incredibly evil, and I agree with you that the people that have been promoting this should go to prison,” along with, “It wasn’t explained to me that puberty blockers are actually just sterilization drugs.”
Musk used the phrase “deadnaming,” which is used to describe referring to a transitioned person by their prior name, to summarize the impact of the process on his life and his child:
“I lost my son, essentially. They call it deadnaming for a reason. The reason it’s called deadnaming is because your son is dead. My son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”
Musk’s son, once known as Xavier, is now Vivian Jenna Wilson. “Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form,” Vivian stated in her petition for a name change. Musk said last year that the separation was perhaps more heartbreaking than when his first son passed away at a young age.
According to Musk, Peterson, the encounter strengthened his determination to eradicate awake ideology: “I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that.” Musk has promised to donate $45 million to a super PAC that supports Trump and concentrates on “get out the vote” campaigns, putting his money where his mouth is.
Previously, GreatGameInternational reported that the Department of Health and Social Care declared that private prescriptions of puberty blockers are banned in the UK, effective from June 3 until September 3.
