The Dark Side Of Meghan And Prince Harry’s Fairytale Romance Chronicled In New Book

In total, about 17 million individuals watched Meghan’s wedding. But, here’s the dark side of Meghan and Prince Harry’s fairytale romance chronicled in new book.

The romance between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry began as a fairytale, reports Daily News. However, somewhere along the line, it degenerated into acrimonious arguments and family disputes. “Revenge” by Tom Bower delves into the unpleasant facts.

He believes he also knows who is to blame. Markle is the book’s real subject, and its sardonic author’s target, despite the fact that the book’s entire title is “Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors.”

The international drama that would unfold did not appear in Markle’s early years. Her parents, Thomas Markle, 37, and Doria, 24, welcomed her into the world in Los Angeles in 1981. Thomas, a TV lighting director, was white. Doria was Black and a free-spirited designer striving to make a name for herself.

The union failed to endure. However, Tom adored his new daughter; Tom Jr., his son from a previous marriage, called her “His whole life, his little princess.” Thomas took full custody when Doria started touring with her fashion company. Meghan was nine.

She was already savoring the limelight. “Meghan was videoed sitting on a red blanket, wearing a gold crown,” Bower writes of the incident that occurred at a friend’s birthday celebration. “Directing the other girls to bow and intone to her ‘Your Royal Highness,’ she had been influenced after watching a tape of Princess Diana’s fairytale wedding.”

Her father fed her attention-seeking urges by paying for her acting and dance classes and providing the lighting for her school productions. He helped set her up with a used car and her own apartment after graduation. He also paid for her college education, which cost $45,000 a year to study acting at Northwestern. Even the gas was covered by him.

Years later, when Markle addressed college students from the working class and claimed to understand their financial troubles, he would be astounded. “I’m sorry but that is completely untrue,” her father told the press. “I paid every penny of her tuition and I have the bank statements to prove it.”

Markle attended countless Hollywood auditions following graduation. Few were successful. She served as one of the “Deal or No Deal” hosts. She started a blog under the name Working Actress and lamented having to “kiss actors with smelly breath.” She married the young producer she met.

The relationship, which Bower calls a “starter marriage,” did not last. However, Markle had already been cast in a “Suits” episode. As her profile rose, she started pursuing sponsorship deals and speaking engagements. She also started to put her father and her history behind her. Friends who made an effort to remain in touch observed a shift.

“The tone of her voice, her mannerisms, the way she laughed, didn’t seem real to me anymore,” one said. “It was like a light switched off.”

She made some Canadian TV advertisements once “Suits” became successful, and she eventually received a spot promoting a Christian charity. Then, in the summer of 2016, Markle met a fashion publicist who was a childhood friend of Harry while attending a “Suits” junket in London.

According to Bower, Markle requested that the publicist introduce the actress to the prince.

Eventually, a meeting was scheduled at an exclusive London club. Markle frantically informed her agent, and the woman was not shocked. “I understood where she was coming from,” the agent said. “Her dream of bagging a prince was even written in one of her old blogs.”

The date went well, and Markle and Harry started going out on dates frequently. The Sunday Express reported the engagement four months after the couple’s initial date. “The British media was ecstatic,” Bower writes. ‘He’s been happier than he’s been in many years,’ reported The Times.”

The honeymoon period with the media was short.

British tabloids started looking into Markle’s ancestry in America. The reporting was condescending and even racist. Newspapers claimed that her father stayed in a run-down Hollywood flat. They stated that her mother was a slum dweller. Apparently, Markle’s estranged half-sister described her as “a social climber with a soft spot for gingers” in the report.

Harry, who was still smitten, invited Markle to spend a weekend with him and his pals in the country. It went horribly. She was a feminist, liberal, and biracial American. They were white, affluent, conservative Brits who enjoyed political incorrect humor, riding, hunting, and drinking.

Clearly not amused, Markle let them know as much.

Harry’s friends started sending each other texts right away after the party ended.  “OMG what about HER?” “A total nightmare.”

She accepted Harry’s proposal, as we all know. A second round of positive news coverage followed the official announcement. But the family kept its guard up in private. Charles, Harry’s uncle and Diana’s brother, cautioned him against acting hastily. William, his older brother, advised him to “get to know the girl.”

Harry was not attentive.

Wedding preparations continued. The friction also changed. Palace employees claimed Markle was impolite and obnoxious. Her half-sister had already given her the moniker “Princess Pushy.”

The wedding cuisine, the music, and the guest list all caused arguments. A discussion with Markle’s future sister-in-law Kate Middleton reportedly ended in tears as the two battled about the outfit Kate’s three-year-old was to wear.

Throughout, Harry stood up for his fiancée. “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets!” he finally shouted.

After that, he was invited to a private meeting with his grandmother, the Queen. “He was put firmly in his place,” the Times reported.

In total, about 17 million individuals watched the wedding. Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey, and George Clooney were present. Only Markle’s mother represented her family when she arrived. Her father, a spokesman for the palace, stated that he was too sick to travel. The spokesperson omitted to mention that the father and daughter had cut off communication.

The ceremony itself went well. But what followed? In the past, the bride would typically be expected to withdraw and play a supporting role at this period. But Markle had always envisioned herself as a celebrity. She desired to manage her notoriety and seize any fresh chances, whether they were altruistic or business-related.

“The Royal Family had embraced a media junkie determined to exploit her new status,” Bower declares.

“She had never intended to give up her career and become a loyal member of the family.”

Journalists started contrasting the two young royal spouses and concluded that the younger pair fell short. Markle’s rage was only fueled by that. According to Bower, “She hated the comparisons with uncomplaining Kate.” The two brothers’ separation widened.

William resisted Harry’s advice to treat Meghan with more respect, pointing to her intentional disregard for convention and her treatment of her employees as examples. “Meghan’s behavior, he told Harry, was unacceptable,” Bower reports.

Harry was indignant. Markle was inconsolable. Dark days lay ahead, and she later admitted that she had suicidal thoughts. The pair came to the conclusion that 2020 was the only time to abandon everything. Harry stated that they will renounce all responsibilities as “working royals.”

Since then, the pair has made their home in California, where they devote their time to humanitarian endeavors, their two young children, and multi-media business ventures. What exactly have they left in England? Only negative emotions, claims Bower. He describes Markle as a “merciless opportunist” in a frigid manner.

Nevertheless, Bower acknowledges that she possesses a special quality: the “good fortune,” as he puts it, to be immune to guilt.

  1. I’ve not seen H&M’s video yet, but some points are obvious. British tabloids are loyal publicists for the Crown, itself a p. r. agency. There IS racism in the Windsor family, mainly from some not highlighted in the article. And King Charles has the opportunity to make remuneration and real-estate changes that were unavailable to Her Majesty.
