Despite its extensive efforts to conceal the Coronavirus outbreak and accompanying draconian lockdowns, China was voted to the World Health Organization’s Executive Board with no opposition from any democratic nations.
UN Watch’s Hillel Neuer remarked that “this is the regime that crushed” whistleblower concerns in late 2019 and early 2020.
“Not a single democracy spoke out to object,” he added.
The WHO is “stuffed with small countries, many with lousy human rights records, which will not dare to challenge China or which will not have the political clout to do so,” according to Spectator columnist Ross Clark.
Recall that the leader of the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 origin probe stated that China virtually told his team what to write in their assessment and only permitted them to mention the lab leak possibility if they did not propose investigating it further.
Furthermore, China has declined to collaborate with the reinvigorated WHO investigation, asserting that any investigation into the lab leak hypothesis is “against science” and attempting to claim that employees in the lab were hospitalized with COVID in the autumn of 2020, — in contrast to US intelligence and the WHO’s own findings.
