Camila Giorgi, an Italian tennis player with three singles titles in her career and more than 400 victories overall, was involved in a scandal involving a false vaccination certificate.
According to Yahoo Sport, Daniela Grillone, a doctor for the Giorgi family, claimed in an interview with Italian media that the tennis player obtained a fake COVID-19 vaccination certificate and that none of her relatives have also received the shot.
Giorgi was mentioned in a report from December that listed names of athletes and celebrities who reportedly did not get a COVID vaccination.
According to News.com.au, Grillone was detained in February 2022 for allegedly giving shots with fake serums. She is also accused of giving prominent Italian people fake vaccination records.

“The Giorgi family has been under treatment with me for a long time. Camila Giorgi suffered from the so-called tennis elbow,” Grillone told Italy’s Corriere del Veneto. “Shortly before the beginning of summer, she had come asking for the possibility of obtaining false proof of all the mandatory vaccines, as well as the COVID vaccine. I can confirm with absolute certainty that none of the vaccines against the Giorgi family have actually been administered.
“I have not received any payment in that case. I am deeply upset and sorry for my action.”
According to a WTA representative, the organisation was keeping an eye on the Italian investigation.
“We are aware of the allegations and are currently monitoring the situation and any investigations that may be brought forward,” the spokesperson said.
Giorgi participated in competitions during the previous season, but her vaccination history might have been a problem. She lost in the second round of the U.S. Open after reaching the third round of the Australian Open.
Giorgi didn’t reply right away when contacted for comment by Fox News Digital.
