According to a Phys story on Wednesday, archaeologists found what they suspect to be the remnants of the Poseidon temple close to Samikon, Greece.
The remains were discovered and are being studied by the Austrian Archaeological Institute in collaboration with scholars from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Kiel University, and the Elis Ephorate of Antiquities, reports The Jerusalem Post.
The site where the remains were discovered matches to the place described by ancient Greek historian Strabo when he detailed the shrine 2,000 years ago.
