The bizarre experiments carried out at the now infamous Fauci’s Secret Monkey Island involved injecting monkeys with various kinds of infectious diseases such as Lassa and the Ebola virus which led to hemorrhaging, pain, brain damage, and loss of motor control and organ failure among multitudes of other things. Now, 40 monkeys have escaped from this research facility in South Carolina, and authorities are urging people to stay cautious. The monkeys broke free from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center, which is located in Yemassee, about 60 miles from Charleston, on Wednesday.
The authorities quickly sprung into action. They set traps around the area and began searching for the animals using high-tech thermal imaging cameras. The Yemassee Police Department is on-site, working to capture the escapees. They have also warned local residents to keep their doors and windows securely closed to prevent the monkeys from entering homes.
The Alpha Genesis facility is known for breeding monkeys for medical research. These primates are used in testing for various diseases. However, it’s unclear whether the escaped monkeys were part of these research trials or if they could be carrying any dangerous diseases. Because of this, the authorities are urging extreme caution. If anyone spots one of the escaped monkeys, they are advised not to approach it but to immediately call the police.
The exact types of monkeys that escaped are not known. However, the Alpha Genesis facility works with species like rhesus macaques and capuchin monkeys. This isn’t the first time this has happened either. Back in 2016, 19 monkeys also escaped from the same facility, and it took about six hours to round them up.
The facility’s connection to government contracts also raises questions. In 2023, Alpha Genesis was hired to manage a colony of about 3,500 monkeys on a nearby island, known as “Monkey Island.” Now, with 40 monkeys on the loose, people are on edge, wondering if this could lead to more trouble.
With authorities still searching for the monkeys and residents being extra cautious, the situation remains tense. Everyone is waiting to see how this strange and worrying escape will unfold.
