The world order seems to be changing dramatically following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Dr Bharat Karnad, emeritus professor of national security studies at the Centre for Policy Research, the New Delhi think-tank, believes the global political situation is in a flux, thereby impacting the strategic and domestic politics of countries across the globe.
Poland has officially offered to turn over its entire fleet of MIG-29 fighter jets to the US free of charge to be deployed in Ukraine to fight Russians. Meanwhile, Pentagon has warned that if Poland sends jets to Ukraine, it would mean that NATO is at war.
“The Asia-Pacific is a promising land for cooperation and development, not a chessboard for geopolitical contest,” said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi raising the question why exactly is the US trying to create another NATO in the region?
Many observers speculate that Putin invaded Ukraine because he wanted to prevent NATO from expanding to Russia’s border. He felt increasingly threatened by a Ukrainian government formed in the aftermath of a 2014 Obama-backed coup. It is highly unlikely that Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine without first receiving the approval of China’s Xi Jinping.
The West has taken an extreme stance against Russia over its invasion in Ukraine. This reaction exposes a high degree of hypocrisy considering that US-led wars abroad never received the punitive response they deserved.
The West has bombarded India with practically everything they have in the last month, demanding that we participate in their war. But, Why should India, of all countries, fight in NATO's war.
The Attorney General of the NATO member state of Czechia, Igor Stríž stated in a press release that the country wants to send you to jail for 3 years if you support Russia on social media.
So a congregation of NATO’s top brass ensconced in their echo chambers target the Russian Central Bank with sanctions and expect what? Cookies?
“After the fall of the Soviet Union, there was a near universal understanding among political leaders that NATO expansion would be a foolish provocation against Russia. How naive we were to think the military-industrial complex would allow such sanity to prevail.”
By tying itself to a reckless and dangerous America, the Ukrainians made a blunder that client states will study for years to come.
