After Chinese aggression in areas bordering Sikkim, Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has shifted focus to ramp up military infrastructure in locations across Uttrakhand. Notably, these are new locations that till now have not reported any tensions.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China has long employed the practice of establishing model integrated villages near the border regions, particularly in proximity to Eastern Ladakh and the North-East regions near the Sikkim and Arunachal borders.

Now, satellite imagery obtained by India Today provides irrefutable evidence confirming the recent claims of construction of military villages in the middle sector, directly facing Uttarakhand.

Analysis of commercial satellite pictures suggests these structures were built at a rapid speed. In some cases, about 100 structures were raised over a period of one month.

Almost 40 km away from the Pulam Sumda in Uttarkashi, such structures started showing up between April and May 2022. Incidents of increased activity in another region towards the east near Barahoti have been reported in the past too.

According to intelligence agencies, the Kuki militants are merely puppets in the hands of drug lords from their community, holding peace in Manipur to ransom.
