Dell, SMC, and Nvidia are collaborating on Elon Musk’s Grok supercomputer project in Memphis, set to be the world’s largest. The venture aims to power the chatbot Grok, with potential implications for AI development.

The multibillion-dollar “Gigafactory of Compute” by xAI is being built in Memphis, Tennessee, and is expected to be the biggest supercomputer in the world.
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup may power the chatbot Grok—which is now live on the X platform—in a few months.
The Daily Memphian was recently informed by a source that the supercomputer might begin operating in eight to twelve months.
The supercomputer is intended to power and do computations for Grok, the chatbot run by xAI’s artificial intelligence. The Information, a business publication, reported on May 26 that the supercomputer would be ready by August 2025.
But a source familiar with the matter told The Daily Memphian that the supercomputer could start running eight to 12 months earlier than expected, making an August 2024 start possible.
Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of Dell, shared a photo of the Dell racks planned for the Grok on Wednesday morning.
In a post, Dell stated, “We’re building a Dell AI factory with @nvidia to power @grok for @xai @elonmusk.”

Additionally, according to X user DogeDesigner, Dell is providing supercomputer hardware to xAI. In response, Musk said on X that Dell “is assembling half of the racks that are going into the supercomputer that xAI is building.”

Among the many queries posed by X users were “Who’s assembling the other half?” as well as “Liquid-cooled?”
In response, Musk stated that “SMC,” or Super Micro Computer, will provide the remaining 50% in response to X user Mario Nawfal.

Since today is a holiday, maybe this news may cause Dell and SMC to rise on Thursday. Nvidia was named the most valuable corporation in the world on Tuesday.
So far this year, gains…

“It seems like Elon Musk is assembling an Avengers-like team of tech giants and turning them into a formidable force in the AI, with Grok as their secret weapon,” a user on X tweeted.

A covert tool to combat the woke censorship gang?
The new arms race is GPU power.
Recently, GreatGameIndia reported that Elon Musk declared in a post on X his intention to ban iPhones and encase them in a Faraday cage if they integrate with OpenAI. He cited security concerns after Apple disclosed its capability to develop an AI module.
