In Alabama and Oklahoma, select supermarkets are installing AI-powered vending machines that dispense ammunition alongside groceries like milk and eggs. American Rounds, the company behind these machines, says they use facial recognition and ID scanning to ensure buyers are 21 or older. These machines operate 24/7, allowing customers to purchase ammunition conveniently without store-hours restrictions. American Rounds plans to expand to more states, claiming their machines promote responsible gun ownership by reducing accidental sales to minors and theft.

Nothing says “Merica” like stores with automated vending machines filled with weaponry. These new machines can be found at a small number of supermarkets throughout Alabama and Oklahoma. This means you can leave the store with milk, eggs, and boxes of 9mm and.223 ammunition.
American Rounds has deployed AI-powered ammunition vending devices in many Alabama and Oklahoma supermarkets. These vending machines are believed to have built-in AI technology, card scanning capabilities, and face recognition software to ensure that buyers are 21 or older and match the identification on their license.
“Our automated ammo dispensers are accessible 24/7, ensuring that you can buy ammunition on your own schedule, free from the constraints of store hours and long lines,” according to the company’s website.
According to American Rounds, six supermarkets, including two Fresh Value stores in Alabama and four Super C Mart stores in Oklahoma, have these innovative retail automatic ammo dispensers.

He went on to say that these vending machines promote “law-abiding, responsible gun ownership,” adding, “Currently, ammunition is sold off the shelf or online. These situations result in unintentional sales to underage buyers and, in the case of retail businesses, a high theft rate.”
Magers told Oklahoma KOCO-TV that the machines would have no ammo restrictions and would be refilled weekly.
